10 Resolutions For Fall

Soy-Ginger Aioli Entrée Salad V1Labor Day is around the corner and the school year is kicking off.  Here at Meez, it’s a time when we make some new resolutions.   We may not be buying school clothes or fresh notebooks any more, but after a lazy summer, it feels like a great time to refresh and rejuvenate our routine.  This week we are sharing ten of our favorite resolutions.

1. Pack A Lunch The Night Before

Brown bagging is tastier, healthier and less expensive than the grab and go options near the office, but mornings are way too busy to make it happen.  This year we will pack a lunch the night before so we can grab and go in the morning.  (Need ideas?  Try one of our salads, like the Buddha Salad Bowl, above.)

2. Find An Exercise Routine That Fits Our Schedule

Whether it’s a morning run, afternoon barre class or midday boot camp, we will find a routine that works for us and that we actually look forward to attending.

3. Keep The Summer Vibe Going

Figure out what we love most about summer and make it last all year. Spontaneous gatherings? Lazy nights?  Weekend getaways?  We will capture that mood all year.

4. Family Dinners

There’s nothing better than getting everyone around the dinner table. Good conversation and delicious food bring people together, and we’ll make family dinners our priority this fall.  (With classic family favorites like Black Bean Sweet Potato Chili and All-American BBQ Chicken Tacos on the menu this week, we’ve got something for everybody.  See the full menu and order here.)

5. Kids In The Kitchen

We’ll break out of the weeknight hustle and turn the chore of dinnertime into quality family time by slowing down and letting the little ones help.

6. Green My Life

Whether it’s finally composting or removing our names from those catalog mailing lists, we will do one thing to green our footprint this fall.  (Meez makes composting easy by collaborating with Collective Resources. Learn more here here.)

7. Get Takeout Only When We Really Want It

We love to cook, but we also love takeout.  But only when it’s because we wanted it, not because we didn’t have the time or energy to cook from scratch. We will eliminate that emergency pizza or lazy Thai delivery from our routine.

8.Have Friends Over For Dinner

The house doesn’t have to be perfect and the menu doesn’t have to take hours to prepare.  This fall we will remember that gathering as friends is the key and invite people over more often.

9. Go Apple Picking

It just sounds fun! Chicago has some great options for escaping the city and enjoying nature – and fall specialties – at the same time. (Check out these ideas on places to go.)

10. Focus On What Matters

We’re going to spend less time on chores & errands and we’ll spend more quality time with our friends and family.  At the end of the day, spending more time with the people we love is what it’s all about.
