Inside Meez: Who You Gonna Call? The Ladies of the Dinner Hotline

One of the greatest thing about working at Meez is getting to talk about delicious food all day.  This week we’re introducing you to Lucy and Rhonda, two of the friendly people behind the Dinner Hotline.

Meet Lucy

Meezheadshot

She’s got marinara in her veins and scrambled eggs on the brain. She has been happily writing about food for different Chicago restaurants and blogs over the last few years. Inspired by the show Iron Chef, she went through a rigorous culinary program that made her appreciate the intricacies of recipe building and the delight of homemade crepes.

Mantra: Loves Food. Will Travel

Favorite Culinary Style: International street food (think kebabs and dumplings)

Favorite Food Movie: Chocolat and Jiro Dreams of Sushi

Favorite Hotline Question: “I only have almond milk. Could I use that instead of regular milk?”

Lucy Says: I love the deliciously nutritious choices we now have that are able to replace traditional cooking staples. This question reminds me that we have so many ways of making the same yummy meal but healthier and can accommodate dietary restrictions. Not to mention that it shows that people are interested in cooking with what they already have in their fridge and not being wasteful.

Favorite Meez Meal: Miso Red Curry Bowl.  I could have this one every week. I love the chewiness of the noodles and umami-rich curry. Mmmmmm.

Meet Rhonda

Dinner Hotline specialist by night. Passionate pastry chef of Rhoyal Decadence by day.  Self taught in the time-honored kitchen of her mother and grandmother, Rhonda’s been inspired by their love of food ever since.  Her signature specialty are her down-to-earth baker’s brownies.

Mantra: Have fun. It’s not that serious!

Favorite Hotline Question: Any substitution questions. I love when people call and want to try something different with a recipe. For example, a caller said that she didn’t like mushrooms and asked what she could add instead. We went though what is already in the fridge and then got creative.

Favorite Meez Meal: Creamy Balsamic Chicken Pasta. The goat cheese was so perfect with it that I kept thinking how just another dollop of it would be even better.

Favorite Food Show: Anything on Food Network

Favorite Kitchen Tool: Vintage Kitchen Aid Mixer in Avocado Green

The Dinner Hotline is standing by at 773.916.6339 every night from 5-8 pm to answer your questions about food.  Give us a call about a Meez recipe or anything you have cooking that night.  We love to hear from our members, so give us a call.
