5 Simple Ways to Cleanse Your Body and Have More Energy

Just like we clean our homes, it’s important to clean our bodies as well.  The number one complaint I get from my clients is fatigue.  It seems to be epidemic!  It’s a part of modern life that we are exposed to toxins on a daily basis.  However, a few simple tweaks can have amazing health benefits.

  1. Drink more water. This seems obvious, but most people are dehydrated.  Many times, you may think you’re hungry, but what your body really needs is water.  The gold standard is ½ your body weight (pounds) in ounces of water.  It may seem like a lot at first, but trust me, your body will thank you.
  2. Replace your morning coffee with green tea. Many people don’t know this, but coffee spikes your blood sugar – which is great in the short term, but after a few hours, your blood sugar crashes and may have you craving something sugary to perk you back up.  Green tea will still give you a little bit of caffeine but also contains healthy antioxidants which help to fight toxins.
  3. And speaking of sugar . . . when those cravings hit, reach for some fruit, rather than a sugary treat. Fruit in its natural form provides the body with fiber and nutrients while being low in fat and calories.  While fruit does contain natural sugar, the fiber slows down your digestion which prevents a spike in blood sugar.
  4. Schedule in some exercise. You probably already know exercise is good for a healthy body.  Besides helping to shed weight, exercising – and specifically sweating – helps the body release toxins.
  5. Many people struggle with sleeping. Did you know your tv, computer and smart phone all emit blue light?  All artificial light, but especially blue light suppresses melatonin, which is the hormone that controls your sleep and wake cycles.  Give yourself an hour before bed to read or relax away from your devices, and you’ll get more sleep.
  6. Do a cleanse! I cleanse at least quarterly and have an easy 10 day program that is like hitting a reset button.  I do a gentle clense which allows me to continue eating Meez Meals.  It’s super easy even for my busiest of clients to do because Meez has such healthy meals to choose from.

It’s a choice and sometimes a bit of transition to take care of ourselves and embrace a healthy lifestyle.  And when you take good care of yourself and your body, you have more to give!

Happy Cleaning!
