Help the Environment by Going Solar The Easy Way

It’s absolutely essential for each of us to do what we can to promote a healthier planet–which in turn will lead us all toward healthier lives.  One aspect of a healthier planet is energy consumption.  You may have considered turning to solar energy but assumed it involved a large investment or some level of changes to your home. It is actually very easy to “go solar” and has an enormous effect on our planet. In fact, the average American household going solar has an environmental impact equivalent to leaving about 800 gallons of gasoline or 8,000 pounds of coal in the ground!

You don’t have to install solar panels on your home to go solar. Local solar farms are popping up around the country (lots in Illinois for example). If there are any near you, you can subscribe to a share of that solar farm and offset your home’s electricity use with renewable energy. It’s like having your own solar panels, but off your property. This concept is called community solar, and it’s completely free to join. It will never cost you extra, because you don’t have to buy panels or pay for maintenance. You can enroll online (in about 5-10 minutes) to direct your energy bills toward local solar, and in turn you’ll receive solar credits that actually reduce your electric costs.

For Illinois customers, we’ve partnered with Solstice community solar and Meez Meals Illinois customers can get a $200 Meez Meals e-gift card by enrolling with Solstice!  Click here to go to a landing page for Meez customers to learn more.
